After looking at the polls and the comments, I am somewhat distressed by this entire mess. It seems clear to me the media, which is documented to be farther to the left than most of the population, has engaged in a purposeful campaign to influence the population’s perception of Mrs. Palin. Judiciously edited sound bites and interviews have all been skewed to make Mrs. Palin appear to be a stupid, incompetent woman, mother, and leader. If she plans to seek the oval office in 2012, she will again be treated as an unintelligent pariah bent on setting society back into the stone age. She faces an uphill battle all the way. While I do not know her, the resignation makes her appear not to be made of tough enough stuff and that is probably not a good thing in this political climate where perception is reality. Mrs. Palin may be taking this time to measure her strengths, revist and clarify her core values, and other such introspective endeavors so she can clearly determine whether or not she wants to submit herself to what will be unrelenting attack should she seek office in 2012.

What delicious nonsense.

Perhaps none of the Palin supporters can read, but “the Left” is the least of Palin’s concern. It wasn’t the Left that was quoted in the Vanity Fair article last week, savaging poor Sarah’s lack of intelligence, integrity, and child rearing techniques.

The Right did their own version of a circular firing squad.

Other “leftists” like Karl Rove, Mike Huckabee, George Will, Sen. Lisa Murkowski, National Review’s Rich Lowery, the Wall Street Journal’s Editorial page, etc, chimed in on Palin’s loony wackiness.

What does any of this have to do with the Left?

Not a damn thing. That’s why reading these comments is so very, very strange.

Let me again reaffirm the Left’s full support for Palin. Hers is a channel I do not want to change. Please, please, please support her Presidential bid in 2012.

The left hates anyone who shows them up for what they are.
The left has no scorn for those who do not speak in a clear and coherent manner. They worship those people, as evidenced by the great praise for Obama and Biden. The left does scorn those who have true ideals, and can express them well.
That’s why they hate Sarah Palin.

I do not understand anyone that has heard Obama speak without a teleprompter can say with a straight face that Palin can’t speak.

I also do not understand why people cannot see that the Democrat’s fake ethics complaints have put the Palin family a half million dollars in debt. Fifteen ethics complaints, all having to be investigated, costing the State of Alaska millions. Each, after investigation, judged meritless. Due to some peculiar twists in Alaska law these complaints require little or no evidence to start.

While Governor Palin is in office she can do little to earn extra money to pay these legal bills. And there is a legal limit to how much one person can donate to her legal defense fund. Unlike a certain, unnamed political party that ignores these rules, the Palins take them seriously. Probably another reason she is unqualified for national office.

I do not know if Governor Palin has a future in electoral politics as a candidate. I do suspect she will be extremely helpful as a speaker and fund raiser for a whole bunch of candidates in the 2010 elections.

How well she does in that role will have much to do with her political future. If she can help a significant number of conservative candidates to win election, she will have a future. If not, she won’t. It’s that simple.

Trish and tom, I really don’t think that people HATE Palin.
There’s a lot of scorn forher sometime inability to speak in a clear, coherent (and coached) manner, and a good deal of heated rejection of her ideals.
There’s a whole lot of nastiness sent to her and her family, but she’s not really hated. She has certainly done nothing worthy of bringing out hatred. True hatred from the left still belongs to Cheney, followed by Bush.

Hate is the right word.
The left wants us to believe they want her to run, because they want to tear her apart again. The last person the left really wants to run against them is an intelligent, capable conservative like Palin. That’s why they spewed such unrelenting hatred at her.

I think the question of whether she might be electable is moot. I doubt she will ever want to run again, the way the hatemongers have savaged her.
I expect she resigned so that she can do the things as a civilian that she could not do as governor.

Fuster, I DO think that a lot of people do HATE her. Those folks I know, who are usually pretty solidly Republican don’t “hate” her, but many don’t think highly of her.

I don’t think she’s ever been given a real chance for us to find out. She was only in the spotlight for 60 days and was attacked from day one. I still have an open mind about her.

As to many Liberals & MSM elites, they really do hate her. I’ve only seen that level of visceral emotion towards GWB & Clarence Thomas. Very sad stuff.

I hope that you’re not serious in thinking that people hate Palin. That’s not the right emotion to assign to her detractors and/or opponents.
