What If The Economy Recovers Sooner Than Convenient?–UPDATED

May 4, 2009 / 11:54 am • By Dr. Melissa Clouthier

For the second straight month, home sales have increased:

There was another ray of hope Monday for the distressed housing market: the National Association of Realtors said the volume of signed contracts to buy previously occupied homes rose for the second month in a row.

Homebuyers taking advantage of bargain prices, low interest rates and a tax credit for first-time buyers pushed the seasonally adjusted index of pending sales up by 3.2 percent to 84.6 in March.

What if the economy is recovering? What if it all happens before the gazillions of dollars Obama is spending happens.

John Fund told me to expect inflation 18 months from now. When the natural capitalistic cycle is monkeyed with the pendulum swings too far the other direction. That’s what I fear happening in the next two years.

It’s Bushes fault that it went bad (even though the Dem’s have been in charge of Congress since 2006 when it started going south), but if something good happens, well, it “must” be because of Obama (even though NONE of the “scamulous” money has been spent yet), right?

    Melissa,

It depends on what you consider “recovery.” We’ll probably be out of the recession by the end of the year. However, we won’t have any economic growth because the Democrats will stifle it through all the taxes they have planned. What we’ll have is a lot of stagnation. Now it may seem that we have “recovered,” but that’ll be because we’re now in the next bubble: the government bubble. And when that bursts (and it will burst), there will be nothing to back it up. That’s when we’ll be neck deep in debt from all of the spending, so we’ll be completely screwed.

Democrat or Republican it doesn’t really matter they’re all the same. When are people going to get serious about the political landscape in America; “term limits” is the only way to make sure habitual corrupt politicians don’t continue unchecked. Yes term limits for all elected federal, state, and local offices. (All judges frderal and state should also be appointed to term limits)

As for your article on the recession, go into any Wal-Mart, Sears, BestBuy, Target, Macy’s, etc. and take a look at the percentage of goods made in America compared to those made in foreign countries, it’s about 10%/90% respectfully. America will never pull out of this looming depression until that number is turned around. It wasn’t the housing market that sunk the economy; it the late of jobs and the inability to pay for those homes that is sinking this nation.
