Sarah Palin’s Savaging At The Hands Of The Left-Wing Media

March 17, 2009 / 2:09 pm • By Dr. Melissa Clouthier

I’m just thinking more about the special lists and group meetings and conference calls being conducted by liberal journalists, political operatives, academics and Obama administration officials. It’s all very coordinated and collegial and decidedly NOT conservative. That much they can agree on.

This elite cabal (to borrow from the Press Secretary) talks daily and did through the election coverage. So ideas were formed, debated, shared and regurgitated in the hallowed halls of education, print and TV media, and within Obama’s campaign.

Remember Sarah Palin?

Yeah, me too. And now I’m looking at the treatment she received in the press and I wonder. I wonder, is Katie Couric is part of the JournoList? I wonder about Charlie Gibson. I wonder about all sorts of print media people. I wonder if Andrew Sullivan is one of the few “conservatives” allowed in the elite group. And now, we’re learning ever more about Sarah Palin, like the truth.

All sorts of questions occur to me. Mostly, I’ve decided that every time I talk to a journalist, I’m going to ask him or her, “So, are you a member of JournoList?”

And now, Ace brings up the whole Minister of Culture thing Obama wants. So, in a further marriage between political leftist and media:

6. Did I mention it’s creepy? This guy just admitted that his goal was not to advance “cultural” itself — already a dubious proposition — but was in fact specifically “a big step forward in terms of connecting cultural and government with mainstream administration policy.” He just announced, in other words, his point was to be a propagandist, to inject “mainstream administration policy” into our “cultural.” Like the government-sponsored artists of the 30’s, apparently our new “cultural” will be in service not of art but in propagandizing the Obama Administration.

Add another one to the ever-growing What If Bush Had Done It? file. There was a hue and cry over a Clinton era (and the Bush era) government program to subsidize TV shows which carried anti-drug messages. Even that was considered a breech and improper marriage of government and media. (I have to say I’m uncomfortable with the precedent myself — look where it’s gone.)

And now Obama’s Minister of Culture is going to connect “cultural” with “mainstream administration policy” and the NYT welcomes it as if it’s a positive development?

Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me?

One wonders how much more interconnected the government and media can get. I’m sure that with Obama in the White House, we’ll find out.

Back to Sarah Palin for a minute. Every attack, every diversion (Rush, Megan McCain, Michelle Obama’s biceps) should now be viewed with suspicion. There is more than a slim chance that the message is coordinated and purposeful. It felt that way watching Palin’s treatment. Now, we know for sure.

Good article. I just received Media Bias CD in the mail and will watch it tomorrow. I know how it will play out but I have to see it. The media pros are dead and they know it. The ones that got their noses in the deepest are now looking for jobs in the messaih’a light.

    Dear Rich Republicans,
In these troubled times, it is ever more likely that our cultural, charitable, educational, and social institutions will come to you for money. By all means, give and give lavishly. But…and this is a BIG BUT…but, REFUSE TO GIVE A DIME UNLESS THE INSTITUTION AGREES TO BECOME FAIR AND BALANCED. That way, over the decades to come, places like colleges and universities, libraries, publicly-owned media, charities, churches, environmental groups, etc, will become more like Fox News and less like MSNBC. Remember Frodo, even the smallest person can change the world.

You mean the treatment she received where she was asked some basic questions about foreign policy? Yeah, that was real rough. How dare the vast left wing conspiracy throw pertinent job related questions at her! Damn them! How dare they talk about her daughter and the upcoming (oops! not now!) shotgun wedding – er, uhhh, oh wait- that’s right, Sarah’s the one who paraded them around the country…um, oh well, nevermind…

Sort of explains why during the campaign so many journalists and pundits sounded like they had been issued Democrat and Obama campaign talking points to use, doesn’t it? And didn’t it come out at some stage that an Obama adviser or Democrat strategist helped Katie Couric come up with the questions and prepare for her infamous Sarah Palin interview?
