It's reasonable for people to expect, whether they gain weight deliberately or by other means, that the President of the United States won't be commenting on it because He's got more important things to worry about...especially if He is some kind of Christ-replacement, incarnated in mortal flesh to deliver us from evil, as is the case here.

I guess that means bloggers get to talk about things the President doesn't. Well, yeah; with great power comes great responsibility.

Regarding the surrounding himself with yes-men, I was giving the laymens' reference material (<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_A" rel="nofollow">Wiki</a>) on Type-A and Type-B personalities a closer look, and I found the conventional wisdom made more sense than I had previously thought. I think most people misunderstand it. Type-A's are generally not "secure" -- the opposite is the case. Their grandiose displays of pomposity mask their internalized feelings of inadequacy. They are the guy driving the enormous or expensive set o'wheels, poorly endowed within the trousers.

One of the symptoms of a poor management style, is to fill all the subordinate layers of management with Type-A's: All opinions expressed most quickly and most forcefully, must be most correct. Another classic symptom is to fill all the subordinate layers with Type-B's because you yourself are Type-A. I think the latter of those two most accurately describe the situation in our new executive branch.

Oh, and for what it's worth, I don't think BO said anything negative about Jessica Simpson. He said something to the effect of, "she's in a weight battle,' or something similar in response to Matt saying, "You were replaced by Jessica Simpson." I am not one to defend BO, but I think he was just reading what was on the magazine.

I thought it was more telling when BO responded to Matt's question about his mother-in-law living with them... She steps in to defend him from Michelle? Does this guy even own a pair of testicles?
