The iPhone is kinda neat (I have one of the original), but not neat enough to stand in line for, much less camp out overnight. When I heard on the news that Apple fanbois were doing just that, I decided NOT to upgrade to the 3G version.

I have a friend who got the new Google-phone, and really likes it. I will probably consider it when the time comes to change phones, which will probably be about the time the non-replaceable battery in my iPhone gives out.

There are LOTS of different alternatives out there, and with the increasing competition, I hope that somebody eventually gets it right. For now, though, all of the data plans are overpriced, and the business of locking in a carrier sucks. I am seriously considering getting an unlocked Nokia N-series.

But things just keep getting better, and for now, the iPhone is adequate, if just barely.

Cut & Paste, anybody? How about search of calendar entries? It’s almost enough to drive me back to carrying a dumb-phone and my old Palm.
