Teacher Who Voted Aspberger’s Kid Out Of Class Suspended
November 19, 2008 / 3:07 pm • By Dr. Melissa ClouthierHere’s a follow-up on the lame-brained teacher who had her five year old students vote their Aspberger’s peer out of the class:
A Port St. Lucie school teacher has been suspended without pay after she allowed her kindergarten students to vote a 5-year-old student out of class.
It took only a few minutes for the St. Lucie County school board to decide the fate of Wendy Portillo.
“My recommendation is a year without pay,” Superintendent Michael Lannon said.
School board members voted unanimously Tuesday on Lannon’s recommendation. Portillo was suspended from the school district effective immediately.
Here’s the thing: A woman this stupid will be this stupid again. Would any parent want her teaching his child?

That is horrible. I would like to hear how she justified this in her own head.
I was going to say that she deserves the punishment, but perhaps a second chance as well.
Then I read this:
Alex Barton, 5, was instructed by his teacher last week to stand in front of the rest of his kindergarten class at Morningside Elementary in Port St. Lucie and listen as his classmates described what they disliked about him, according to a police report.
The boy’s teacher, Wendy Portillo, then had the class vote as to whether Alex should be kicked out of the class, authorities said.

Now I think she should goto jail.

Heck, no, this punishment isn’t fair. It isn’t nearly enough.
In order to understand how heinous her actions are, you have to understand this syndrome. Its sufferers are exceptionally shy, and have difficulty dealing with other people. And this was a kindergartner, a LITTLE kid.
In my opinion, anyone who lets this woman near children again is committing a crime.
