Interestingly, Victor Hugo is among the heroes of liberty profiled in Jim Powell’s great book TRIUMPH OF LIBERTY. A book that, if it were to go through a thousand editions and updatings from here to the next millenium, the Obamessiah will never appear in, except perhaps in a chapter devoted to Sarah Palin.

Oh, and another thing. In Les Miz, Javert commits suicide after Jean Valjean lets him live after their confrontation in the tunnels – his entire world was turned upside down by the realization that Jean was a good man, not the horrible convict Javert always thought that he was.

And the Thenardiers (in the play) seemed to land on their feet – as they infiltrated Cosette and Marius’ wedding to steal the silver.

John McCain is Javert, the inspector that chases Jean Valjean through the years and infiltrates the students’ revolution. He doesn’t appear to be singing the Thenardier’s song, just Sarah.

Oh, I’m a big Broadway geek. I’ve got the concert DVD of this one and have seen it at least 5 times – every time it comes through Dallas.

I don’t mean to be utterly anal, but the story of Les Mis takes place during the first half of the 1800s, not 100 years before the French Revolution… This song takes place just before the Revolution of 1832.

But I agree, it is a hilarious video! “One more day till revolution” – the revolution that FAILS! Horribly! Pretty damn near all the revolutionaries die. If I were an Obama supporter, this isn’t a video I would find uplifting.

Um… I haven’t seen Le Miz, but isn’t it set after the French Revolution. The book starts in 1815.
