Obama The Glory Hog And The Hate That Fuels Him And Them

September 10, 2008 / 8:45 am • By Dr. Melissa Clouthier

Maybe this whole Palin is a pig and old people smell thing is just about Barack Obama being a glory hog. Certainly the press coverage, even though it’s been unfriendly, has been all Palin all the time. That’s gotta hurt for a guy who has basked in the evanescent bubbly frothiness from the press for months.

Between going toe to toe with O’Reilly (which actually makes Obama look less metrosexual and that’s a good thing) and the rest of the press hunting Palin peccadilloes like wild boar, Obama has suffered without a spotlight for at least five whole, long, arduous, distressing days.

Maybe his new philosophy is all press is good press.

I was going to say “or” here, but I’m going to start with “and” because what I’m about to say isn’t mutually exclusive. The way to get more press and more left love is not to talk about sunshine, rainbows, and unicorns. Love of country or the desire to build something won’t get everyone jazzed. What fuels Obama and his followers?

Hate.

A simple loathing unsullied by self-awareness or doubt energized by self-righteousness and perceived insults, hate is the soul destroying emotion that animates the left. It is the natural place for Barack Obama to go when the times get tough.

Ace says:

Ponder what sort of mind prays for the deaths of his fellow Americans in order to score a few extra points in a political season. 2300 US Soldiers dead– Huzzah! We just picked up Ohio!

What links all this together? Simple: Hatred. And not merely hatred; we all hate from time to time. I, um, more than most.

But the left isn’t embarrassed of its hate; it does not seek to hide it, or apologize for it. It views it as a sign of authenticity, and indeed as a mark of virtue. An ideology of hatred is thus justified, underneath, by the idea that hatred is itself an ideology, or close enough to one to do in a pinch.

The left doesn’t really make itself terribly inviting for new recruits, does it? The right (or at least what the left would call “the right”) has our share of repellent, hateful creatures too. The thing is, most of them are too stupid to write, and even if they could write, we sure the fuck wouldn’t give them prime slots on tv or in magazines, nor… well, anything, really. We don’t like ‘em.

But those creatures in the left are… their popular columnists and sometimes even political leaders. Our twisted freaks we hide in the storm cellar (to the extent we consort with them at all); they trot them out front and center as their champions, their thinkers, their preisthood.

Unfortunately, Obama has had the people who see the world through this warped frame all wrapped up in terms of votes. But rational people watching, and not sure which way to vote, (those rascally independents) while they might enjoy the victim rhetoric, it’s another thing entirely to enjoy the abuser rhetoric. What Obama displayed in his pig and fish commentary wasn’t the usual poor-me and poor-you, come to mama (or the Savior) and I’ll make it all better schtick. No, the way Obama has been since the emergence of Sarah Palin has been screw you, screw your kids, screw everyone who disagrees. Oh, and by the way, you’re racist.

Not. Endearing.

As an aside, I think Barack Obama might have some unresolved mommy issues (don’t we all?). He has been completely undone by Sarah Palin. Might it be that she represents everything he’s never had in his life until Michelle?

So, Barack Obama has the spotlight back right now. Under the harsh glare though, he’s not looking so good these days–well, not to the people who decide the election anyway.

Well put! It’s interesting that the “progressives” paint conservatives as bigots and hate-mongers while most of the bile is dripping from their own tongues.

They are “progressing” in a nice neat spiral that will ultimately end in the shame of the democrat party. I’m guessing after this election they will collectively wake up and realize that their past 3 selections (and arguably further back) were absolute tools who have made a mockery of their party.

Keep up the posting Dr. Clouthier, I enjoy the reading!

I’m reminded of Jimmy Carter’s comment that if he’d had one more helicopter he’d have won the 1980 election.
    The party of compassion.
    Sure it is.
