Paul,

"At this point no one can argue that the press and elites editorializing on major newspaper pages, lead by a coterie of elite women including Maureen Dowd, Andrea Mitchell, Sally Quinn, Gloria Steinem and even, in an unguarded moment, Peggy Noonan, have been kind to Sarah Palin and her family."

Read as:

"At this point no one can argue that the press and elites .... have been kind to Sarah Palin and her family."

Granted the prepositional phrase makes it more awkward. But the truth is the press and feminists have been UNKIND to Sarah Palin and her family. And if you disagree, save the NYT article today about her son Trig, I'd ask you to provide evidence of their kindness because I haven't seen any.

You should have written "have been unkind".

What you wrote makes no sense, as you point out.

Seems there may be a good reason to fire the "odd couple".

Ed and Mitch at Hot Air interviewed Doug, a volunteer driver who worked for the Republican National Convention Committee in St. Paul. The summary ...
-- According to Doug, MS-NBC apparently took no chances on questions from the crowd. Rather than get caught with a question that might make Republicans look good, their producer pre-screened questioners, and Chris Matthews pretended it was random.
-- Republicans were good tippers. MS-NBC stiffed the drivers.
-- Media people talked in the cars about how effective the Republican convention turned out to be, while publicly saying something else entirely.

First of all, I love your blog. I'm one of the new readers who found you when the Palin thing started. I agree that the press treats her horrendously, and I'm elated that Americans seems to be reacting in the right way (no pun intended) by coming to her side.

Just wanted to point out, though, that the quote "riffed from the Bible" was originally from a play called The Mourning Bride by William Congreve from the 17th century. The full quote goes:

Heav'n has no rage like love to hatred turn'd
Nor Hell a fury, like a woman scorn'd.

Unless I've completely forgotten my Bible studies and missed that quote altogether.

In any case, please continue writing about Palin and the election in general (most fun election evah!). Your analyses have been very interesting.

[...] Dr. Melissa Clouthier Pardon me, but “perceived shift”? Surely, the Time’s writer jests. Is the shift left even in question? Not to average Americans who pay attention. If my wee blog is any indication, Americans are supremely curious about Sarah Palin and this election generally. Other bloggers report the same increase in traffic. In the absence of hard news, people seek information. When they come to my blog, they’ll note my bias. Yep, I have one. But they’ll also be able to go to the original news sources and check facts.
