Sarah Palin More Experienced Than Barack Obama, But Don’t Tell The MSM–UPDATED
August 31, 2008 / 9:44 am • By Dr. Melissa ClouthierNewsbusters reports Eleanor Clift’s response:
From the show taped on Friday at Washington, DC’s CBS affiliate and airing at various times over the weekend around the nation, mostly on PBS stations:
ELEANOR CLIFT: This is not a serious choice. It makes it look like a made for TV movie. If the media reaction is anything, it’s been literally laughter in many places across news-
JOHN McLAUGHLIN, TALKING OVER CLIFT: Where is that? See that?
CLIFT: In very, very many newsrooms.
And here’s Campbell Brown (who I used to like) doing the same. Remember when Barack Obama’s experience didn’t matter? Remember when it was the hope and changiness? Change you can believe in!
The media is ignoring the fact that Barack Obama is the presidential nominee and has even less experience than Sarah Palin and going to put it to her. Brokaw even mentioned the mayor of a town of 7,000 thing. Keep pounding it, MSM. You make yourselves look like deluded, deranged fools.
Experience. Experience. Experience.
Just keep saying the word “experience”. Keep saying how important it is for a nominee to have experience. Keep telling Americans how a young man with a thinner resumé and no executive experience is better positioned to be PRESIDENT, but a young woman with more executive experience and a reputation for actual reform (as opposed to just talking about it) is less qualified and try to not sound like a sexist pig.
Tom Brokaw spoke with such contempt, too. Humorless, angry and clearly unhappy that he has to be talking about this woman. It takes the radiating light off of Obama. You know, Bill O’Reilly was furious about how NBC went after Palin and the unfairness of MSNBC. Brit Hulme and Laura Ingraham defended Tom Brokaw and Brian Williams, but watching Brokaw today, I think O’Reilly is right. Even Brokaw isn’t even pretending anymore. Anything and anyone standing in the way of Obama’s presidency will be absolutely savaged and he won’t mind doing it.
So, let’s learn a little more about Sarah Palin in her own words. Is she the dumb little inexperienced, small-town, blue-collar, excessively breeding hick the media and Left want to present her as? Via Dri at Ace:
Be careful, media. The American public already believes you’re in the tank for Obama. Being perceived as biased is one thing, being perceived as against a conservative woman who has more experience than your chosen candidate is worse.
UPDATE:
Something else occurred to me. The press is wanting to get ahead of Sarah Palin representing herself in her own words. They want to form an image and opinion of her because they know Americans don’t know her. So, with flimsy evidence, if they can avoid showing her concretely and just “punditize” her, they can try to form an image so people will have preconceived notions to filter Palin through when they do meet her.
Cassy Fiano takes on the Lefty sexism, too. Good grief, the Media and Left do not get church-going folk:
Quick hint, lefties: not many conservative men will complain about seeing a conservative hottie in a bikini. And this is America, not Saudi Arabia. We think women should be able to wear whatever they damn well please. Of course, if you see a conservative woman in a — GASP!! — bikini, the lefties start screaming “HYPOCRITE!” and “SLUT!” and “HUSSY!”, and other completely nonsensical things like that. (Again, remember the Michelle bikini photoshop?) They seem to think that the “religious right” wants women covered up, all the time, and think that a woman showing off her body makes her a prostitute. I guess liberals, most of them being atheists or worshippers of Gaia, associate all religions with the Taliban. Unfortunately, here in America even the “religious right” doesn’t mind seeing a woman in a bikini. If that was the truth, I guess I’d get in trouble for posting this picture, huh?
You’ll have to go to her link to see the picture, but I assure you, it’s worth your while. A nice-looking conservative Catholic friend of mine in a bikini.
The press displays their insular, narrow-minded elitism through their Sarah Palin coverage. They might manage to offend just about everyone. Just keep saying the word “experience”. Pit-bull it. Every time you say the word, media-types, your boy Obama dies a little each time.

I have heard on CNN and read in various op-eds and comments the new meme that mothers do not make good executives. I guess the corollary is that the left now wishes that employers bypass working mothers when handing out executive promotions “for the sake of the children.”
For some pictures of Sarah Palin’s “neglected” children, scroll down to the pictures of the after announcement get together at

As the youngest in my family, my only concern for little Trig is how he will survive having 4 mothers?

Define Chronic Depression – living in northern Michigan trying to survive as Realtor and a conservative. Get drunk and vote for McCain sounded like (shallow) but simple advice prior to McCain’s brillant choice of Sarah Palin.
Where can I get a yard sign? Time to dump the ill informed, elitist drama dream team of Obama and whats his name and fix our country.

Melissa,
The first inkling that the media will get that they are horribly wrong is when the election results come out on November 4th. Then they’ll be scratching their heads and wondering what happened…
What the MSM (or drive-by media, to use a Limbaugh term) hasn’t grasped so far is that McCain picked her primarily to unite the conservative base (whom are very familiar with Palin), which has not been behind McCain at all until Friday. McCain needs the conservative base to have a chance at winning. Any other voters pulled in are just a bonus.
This whole flack about getting Hillary supporters is nonsense. From what I heard, McCain’s campaign would be happy if they got around 4% of those people. I don’t think McCain’s campaign ever said that they picked her to get the female vote. Only Democrats deal with absolutes.
As far as I’m concerned, the left will continue to live in a bubble; but remember that bubbles always burst. I’m personally waiting for the VP debate because I think Palin will hand Biden’s ass to him on a platter…

Oh come on now. To say that she has more experience than Obama is to suggest that she would be a better president than Obama, and this is completely silly. Do you honestly expect me to believe that this obscure governor is better qualtified to be president that Obama? If McCain is elected and has a stroke, guess what . . .she will be sworn in as president. Who is this person exactly? We have gotten the opportunity to get to know Obama since 2004 through his countless interviews, through his debates, his books, and his many speeches. You want to know about Obama’s stance, then go to his website and read to your hearts content all of his policy proposals.
Palin just got her passport for the first time a year ago. She stated that she has no idea what the Vice president even does. McCain actually uttered PTA when he was describing her experience! You say that she has more executive experience than Obama . . .so what? She has more executive experience than McCain too! What has McCain ever presided over? Maybe she should be at the top of the Republican ticket according to this argument.
I am sorry, but the argument that Palin is qualified and prepared to be so close to the most powerful job in the world, and that she is better prepared than Obama is weak at best. At its worst, it is a tranparent attempt at political pandering. Completely transparent!!!

She would be a better president than Obama or Biden or even McCain. She isn’t a political hack. She took on her own party to reform the politics of Alaska.
You’re right, she hasn’t written books or policy papers, she’s actually done something. This isn’t a philosophical exercise for her, it’s reality.
And reading Obama’s philosophy is what is scary. He’s a socialist at heart and schooled in radical politics.
So, yes, I DO believe Sarah Palin would make a great Veep and even a great President. It’s not pandering. She’s a true conservative reformer. It’s about damn time we had one of those.

How far can MSM bias go before it becomes, in effect, an in-kind contribution to the Democratic campaign?
The Obama campaign is attempting to legally suppress the ads about Ayers & Obama based on a theory that they are unlawful campagin contributions. But the value of hundreds of hours of biased TV coverage must have a far greater value, if calculated at appropriate commercial advertising rates, than does this specific ad series.

I’m sure Sarah is a fine person and a good mother to her eldest children, but how can she justify taking the role of VP with a disabled 4 month old child?

Thomas,
My, my. Certainly not gonna let any facts get in the way of your posts, huh?
She was in Germany more than a year ago – therefore she must have had a passport.
She said she was unsure what the VP job WOULD ENTAIL FOR HER AS MCCAINS VP. Search for the clip and listen to the entire thing, not just the left’s bullet points.
She DOES have more executive experience that either Obama or Biden. But who doesn’t?
And I don’t think we are SUGGESTING that she would be a better president than Obama. We are flat out saying it, no suggestions needed.
Get with the program. The hype of “hope” and “change” is a myth. The ONLY “washington outsider” that is part of the equation is Sarah. The only politician of the group that could possible be defined as different from the “norm” is Sarah.
McCain’s pick took the wind out of your sails. DNC can talk about how her inexperience won’t be good for the job, but…. they can’t now can they? Not without looking like the hypocrites they are. It won’t be long until “big foot” Biden puts his size 11’s in his mouth over her being a female. You watch and see, Biden has to be extra special careful at any VP debates, and she doesn’t.
Anything else you’d like to say about the VPILF?

To her “ELDEST” children?
What happened to the bra-burning, we can be anything we want, chants from years past? Why does have a child with DS require her to justify her career choices? She has a husband, maybe HE is taking care of the children. Maybe, like every other politician in the world, she’s allowed to have a family. Having a child with DS doesn’t make her any less able, capable, or willing to pursue her career.
Good attempt. You get a “F” for effort thou, as you’ve tripped and stumbled over lefty talking points from 30 years ago. Time to update that smear machine if your gonna do any good.

Of course Sarah Palin is more experienced then Obama, the problem is she’s also more experienced the John McCain. So why is she being run for Vice President? Why should we vote for him when we want her? People should write Sarah Palin in on the ballot, she’s a better choice then McCain and it’s not right to vote for McCain hoping something will happen to him.

I don’t think anyone is suggesting we should vote for McCain/Palin in the hopes that something happens to him and she becomes president. But, there is a REALITY to contend with. Regardless of who does what, who says what, who’s qualified, etc… there are only two choices.
Obama/Biden
or
McCain/Palin
You can write in Sarah Palin for president, but that’s the same as giving a vote to Obama. A write in candidate is simply not going to garner enough votes to win (and your also going to be offset by the large numbers who will write in Ron Paul), and while you might make a statement if enough people do it, your gonna also be stuck with the “other” guy as P/VP.
We have to deal with the choices we have, not with the choices we wish we had.

It is “almost” funny to hear people suggest that Palin is more experienced than Obama. With a BS in Journalism and experinece running a state with a smaller population than most NJ counties vs A Senator from IL who has a Law degree from Harvard and the editor it’s Journal. Plus you’ve got to question a persons intelligence when they suggest that they belive in creationism and the planet being only 5000 years old. (yes I know almost half the country believes this hoo-haw) Com’on people, open you eyes. This was a sheer desperation move on McCain’s part, nothing more. Also, since she supports “Abstinence ONLY” policies… can you imagine YOUR daughters having NO birth control options 6-8 years from now when they appoint new judges?

It would seem from the last comment what’s happened here is that instead of running Sarah Palin for her strength of leadership and empowering her, the intent is to run her in image only. That is not very honest.
Sarah Palin’s qualified and experienced to be the lead candidate. It seems rather unAmerican to be told how to vote solely because the other guy could do something.
What’s next? Are going to run a single candidate and tell everyone don’t bother to vote unless it’s for them?
If a vote for Sarah Palin written in is a vote wasted because of John McCain then it’s a vote he lost for Sarah Palin who is his fellow Republican. I think his nomination speeks volumes about his respect for her ability to perform the duties of President. You should give them both more respect then that.
I would hope that more people believe like me and vote for who they really think should lead and not for who they are directed to vote for. Otherwise it would seem that my country has perhaps lost some of its gumption.

This is exactly what’s wrong with the whole picture! If Obama mentions a Pig in Lipstick, it’s automatically about Palin, and somehow that’s sexist. It’s sexist to pick a women as a VP candidate, and say “oh no ya don’t! you can’t say that about a woman!”

Look, there is executive experience and there is executive experience. If executive experience at any level is the only qualifying factor, than Sarah Plain is more qualified than anybody on either major party ticket to be President of the United States. But she was mayor of Mooseville…er…Wasilla, not mayor of New York. That’s a part time position as mayor of a town of 6000 people. This no more qualifies her to be President than being a Little League manager qualifies one to run a Major League Baseball team. Of course, as Governor of Alaska she’s a little closer to the big leagues. But Governor of a state of 600K people is still not major league. A lot of people can name the Governors of California, New York, Texas and Florida—or, at least, name someone who’s held one of those positions in the past. Can anybody here name anyone apart from Sarah Palin who’s ever been Governor of Alaska? And she hasn’t even held the post for two years!
I have doubts about Obama’s experience, too. I wish he had at least one full term in the Senate under his belt. And, yes, Sarah Palin is not in the top spot of her party’s ticket, whereas Obama is. But it’s downright laughable to say that she is more qualified to be President than he is.

After reading a few of the comments posted here I am going against hope that obviously this is a pro McCain blog and biased against Obama. Ok fair enough….but I am hoping that this blog is open to both sides of the spectrum. When I read all the comments about the media being in love with Obama and is biased against Palin it makes me sick. First of all for all of you that are crying about experience, do I have to remind you that it was your own candidate whose war cry was experience. Obama didnt have the qualifications etc etc, and then goes out and picks a running mate that knows nothing about foreign policy and cannot speak intelligently to the press without rambling gibberish. Yet most of you try to cover her flaws with weak excuses that its the media. Fact #2, need I also remind you of the media frenzy of Jerimiah Wright, I didnt hear anyone crying about them being biased towards Obama then. You know what folks, although you refuse to admit it the bottom line is this. You will make all the excuses in the world and and fool and kid yourself into believing that McCain is a better pick but the truth is that its really about his skin color. You will never vote for a black man. Pure and simple, I think I respect the open racist more then those of you who hide behind your weak logic and reasons not to vote for Obama. I cannot believe that any of you actually think that Sarah Palin is competent enough to run this country, she is a heart attack away from being the President of the U.S. This shows me that this has nothing to do with the love of your country, its all about your own selfish beliefs, before you see a Black man become president you would rather see this country be destroyed by incompetence.
God help us, we havent learned anything.

You know what Darrell? You had some valid points but here is where you lost me: You’ll never vote for a black man.
Bull and turds. You are essentially saying that anyone who disagrees with Obama is a racist and while I won’t deny that there are racists somewhere out there who won’t vote for him because of the color of his skin, I can assure you if a person with policies and ideology I agree with, who happened to be black, was going for the nomination, he’d have my vote.
If you’re black, are you voting for him because of his skin color? Because that’s equally racist. It is making a decision based on the color of his skin and not the content of his character and ideas. It’s called identity politics and it’s destructive.

sarah palin had great moves. i mean, she’s so happy and bubbly, who wouldn’t want to vote for her? but this is her down-fall: the way she holds herself.
please don’t fume up on me, because i’m neither a dem or rep but an ap and honors gradutating high school student and i’ve studied this election. i’ve studied since my junior year, when primaries were the hot topic.
so please, before you get angry, hear me out!
she’s got that awesome accent (same one i do) but her vernacular makes voters (intelligent ones) feel that maybe she isn’t …well… smart… enough… she has funny answers to questions that a person with 2 years of experience should know.
for example: she didn’t really understand what a VP does…. and she’s running for VP… i like her, she gave a great definition to how VPs are a team player in the huge sport of politics but it wasn’t really an accurate definition.
i love her personality though. if i knew her as a person, we’d be best friends, count on it. although, i’d like to pick someone who knows what they’re doing..
but, what i’m tryna get to is, obama may have less experience but at least he did his homework. plus, he has yeeeaaars of education in his background.
not only that but you can tell how wonderful a parent is by looking at their children. i’m not saying anything more but compare mccains pains and gw bush’s kids to obamas… see?
and that first video up top, she looked over to her left a lot. in ap psych, that’s the big move for a liar. liars look toward the left… (incase a few parents want to test it out on their kids.)
and reps use this very clever (kudos to that) move where a few weeks before the election, they’ll do or say something that will snag them the vote.
for (another) example: in the 2001, few weeks before election day, gw bush said “i will not do what my father did.” now we can slap ourselves on the head for electing him TWICE because he didn’t do what his father did but worse.
i think sarah palin is the big chess peice for the reps and is going to be the reason why reps might win this election.
i’m no demi or a rep. infact, i’m not old enoguh to vote. but i care for this country, trust me, i do. i’ve noticed how most reps like to use profanity when talking about obama and how the demis in these comments are a bit more equal to the views. i like darrell, probably a few of the reps that apolojized in advance, which was sweet. but please, to those.. um… “cursers”, don’t be so biased. yeah, i know “msm, cnn” ext. ext. but there’s also fox and cnbs, which is largely and i mean LARGELY supported by reps. it just seems to me that there are more obama supporters on cnn and such so fox isn’t noticed.
ps. i know obama is labelled as a socialist which some think is right and others wrong but socialism isn’t a bad thing. it’s just been labelled bad, like communism which is a branch of socialism. they both are ment for good purposes but the wrong dictator takes advantage. socialism means that the people can do what they want but are ruled by the government. kinda like THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!
!! !!! !! …yep… we’re born and raised in not only the most powerful country in the world but a semi-socialist one (which was recently given more power.)
DD
it matters on who is in charge of the country.
japan and china are examples of a great economy. plus, bho (don’t wanna say “bo” b/c it sounds like “body odor” el oh el) doesn’t want to raise or lower taxes, he wants to redistribute. that’s a big word for find ways to put money in its rightful place. like NOT throwing millions of taxpayer dollars a month to iraq. or aig.
<3 <— (that’s a heart) i love you guys! i respect your views and credit you on your patrionism to fight for who you believe is the right president for this country. i wish you all a very blessed election.
may the best (wo)man win! :3
please comment back if you want to correct me on my veiws. i mean, you know, because mccain isn’t gw bush’s best friend or sarah palin isn’t extreemly against gay marraige (where it HAS been proven that sexual orientation is prefertal) or obama isn’t just great at what he does or he doesn’t have a harvard degree or gw bush actually was smart and it wasn’t because his daddy was president to why gw bush was able to go to yale or that i’m not a student and that i’m actually aurora from sleeping beauty or how when i was ten i didn’t know gw bush was going to be the glacier to our Titanic country or anything because that would seem impossible…
it’s 1030 pm, which is an hour past my bed time so peace.
DD don’t drink and drive
