With every major (and minor) news media outlet gushing over Obama and with Katie Couric practically begging to conceive and bear his children live on camera, and his celebrated world tour (was it 20,000 or was it 200,000 in Germany? Michell Malkin seems to think it was only 10% of the claimed number.) you would think that his poll numbers should be through the roof, but they aren't. He got virtually NO boost in his polling numbers as a result of his world tour. He is consistently only about 5 points ahead of McCain, and McCain isn't really even trying if you were to believe the news media. Obama can't close the deal even with the voter figuratively strapped into a chair with his eyes pried and held open to watch Obama propaganda 24/7/365 a la "A Clockwork Orange". This does not bode well for Obama's chances. He has nowhere to go but down at this point because he just can't move forward. The downside is that McCain hasn't closed the deal either. Granted, he has the drilling issue to beat Obama about the neck and head with. But he also has a problem with hispanics. Despite all of his pandering to the illegal immigration crowd, he just can't get any love from that crew, and instead he has pissed off the conservative base on the issue. So the immigration thing has massively backfired on him (as I could have told him it would.)

Americans get bored very easily, even during election years. Maybe McCain has been doing something right by staying low key. Ptuh ptuh... saying McCain did something right left a bad taste in my mouth! :-)

Steveegg,

Wow. I don't know. The charge of racism would be a taint on the whole Democratic party. The momentum has been taking him along.

I do believe he'll have to have Hillary Clinton as his VP to win. But that would be a disaster.

I'm starting to get the feeling that Barack Obama isn't going to make it out of the Dem convention as the nominee. His bombing on the Obamination World Tour, specifically, his catty tone taken with Katie Couric, will prove to be his downfall.

Do remember that he doesn't have enough committed delegates to take the nomination.
