The Five Scariest Things About Barack Obama
July 23, 2008 / 10:35 am • By Dr. Melissa ClouthierAn evangelical, very religious conservative friend of mine wrote and asked me what scared me about Obama. Well, there’s more than a few things.
1. Elitism: Barack Obama thinks he’s better than the average American. He believes that Americans are stupid. Therefore, he will be justified in putting forth all sorts of policies that are “good” for us, but that the people don’t want.
2. Bad Judgment: He was wrong about the Surge and can’t admit it. He surrounds himself with people of questionable character. He repeatedly demonstrates faulty reasoning.
3. Increasing Taxes: The best way to control the populace is to take their money so they have fewer choices. He frames redistribution of wealth as a way to stick it to the rich man, but the rich man is already paying the lion’s share of taxes. The top 10% of earners pay 70% of taxes. The top 25% pay 86%–these are the people who make over $62,000. That would be you. He knows this. He doesn’t care. His plan will kill the economy and cripple businesses who hire the people he pretends to care so much about.
4. Ideology: Obama doesn’t not believe in American superiority. He doesn’t believe America is a country anyone would want to emulate. He believes America is a negative force for the world. Like Jimmy Carter, he will side with who he perceives as the underdog–and America is the Big World Bully. He will never side with America. A person has to think about how this ideology will drive decisions about hostage situations or terrorist attacks, etc.
5. Lack of Core Values: Does he have any? Besides Hope and Change He Can Believe In–namely himself–what does Barack hold true? Even the Left is admitting that Obama is leaving behind the ideals he campaigned on during the primary. How can anyone believe what he says? How will other world leaders believe a man who changes what he says depending on the audience. It will put America in harms way to have a president who isn’t believed. History is the best guide here. Remember Jimmy Carter. Heck, remember Bill Clinton.
Feel free to add to the list.
More from the Anchoress:
Say this for Obama: he’s being very upfront about his preferences and his ambitions. If he wins, no one can say we didn’t see megalomania from, well…say this moment:
Generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal. — Barack Obama, June 2, 2008
And his wife has already promised us that if Obama wins:
Barack will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual, uninvolved, uninformed.
Every time I read that, I think of the opening of Orwell’s 1984, when Winston Smith gets out of bed to begin his compulsory exercises and - when he’s not quite attending and not touching the floor with his hands - the inter-active drill leader (who can see him) calls out to Smith by name, admonishes him and gets him re-focused.
Smith was certainly involved and informed.
UPDATE: Rachel Lucas also adds this: He’s a big liar.

And the chorus of “O Come Let Us Adore HIM” you hear everywhere. Worship a man like a god constantly and he’ll start to believe it himself. Especially if he has a big ego to begin with.
What is an always-praised President Obama going to do when He gets a reality check from, say, Edgy Adji of Iran? Is He going to walk on water to Tehran with flowers cascading from His hands because He’s OBAMA? And will Adji and the Mullahs throw themselves at his feat squealing just becuase He’s OBAMA?

I love how the fact that people really like him is being used against him. Smells like desperation in here.
And American Superiority? Yeah, we once had it before we started arming tyrants all over the world and starting wars when said tyrants no longer bow to us. And we once had it before we openly allowed torture.
You’ll forgive us if we try to regain the moral high ground that you have so readily ceded.

The 5 scariest things about John McCain:
1. He thinks we should stay in Iraq for 100 years, bomb Iran, and invade any country we think might threaten us.
2. He doesn’t know anything about economics. Just ask him. So he relies on “experts” like Phil Gramm for economic advice. His tax policy has been a marvel of inconsistency.
3. He is easily confused. He can’t tell the difference between Sunnis and Shiites, he doesn’t know that Iraq does not border Pakistan, he can’t figure out when the “surge” started and when it ended.
4. For the so called “values” voters, he dumped his old wife for a brassy billionaire beer heiress young enough to be his daughter. Real family values guy John is.
5. He is older than dirt, conventional, and petrified in his vision and outlook. If you think the country is going in the right direction (13% in the latest WSJ/MSNBC poll), McSame is your guy.

“Obama doesn’t not believe in American superiority.”
I’m not unsure what to make of that.

How bout the fact he supports the construction of FORTY-FIVE NEW NUCLEAR PLANTS?
and the fact he wrote legislation in Illinois making the reporting of radioactive leakage and other dangerous accidents VOLUNTARY for the nuklear energy giants like EXELON, ONE OF HIS LARGEST DONORS!!??
CARES ABOUT HIMSELF, ONLY.

“Therefore, he will be justified in putting forth all sorts of policies that are “good” for us, but that the people don’t want.”
Are you for real? Are you insane? What the hell is going on here? You do realize that we’re currently mired in an endless quagmire, supposedly “good” for us, that 71% of the people have repeatedly said they “don’t want.”
Do you have even a passing familiarity with reality?

xcellent post!
There are many more problems with obama … he has NEVER led any thing of substance … he has NEVER demonstrated expertise in a single field of study (please note experts are recognized as such by a peer process not by popular vote) … he has NEVER experienced life outside of the privileged fences of America (he never has had to deal with real life - “walk abouts” don’t count unless you are a Crocodile Dundee groupie) … he has NO experience dealing with economics and decision making in organizations … he lives ONLY in his imagination … he is a EGO MANIAC of first order … etc.
Please do not confuse McCain’s weaknesses as obama strengths … they are not … they are just McCain weaknesses.
